- Sojourner Truth invited 4 friends over for tea to discuss her discontent for not having equality in America.
- Elizabeth Stanton used the Declaration of Independence as the framework for writing what she called a "Declaration of Sentiments.
- The Declaration of Sentiments, demanded equality with men before the law, in education and employment.
- The Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 convinced the country to pass women's suffrage that same year
- Elizabeth Cady Stanton and women like Susan B. Anthony, and Sojourner Truth traveled the country lecturing and organizing for women's equality for forty years.
- Susan B Anthony said the following, "I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother's grief, none but Jesus heard me!"
- In 1870, Wyoming became the first territory in America to allow women the right to vote.
- In 1913 Alice Paul organized 8,000 marchers, the day before the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson, and called for a constitutional amendment to allow women the right to vote.
- The 18th Amendment finally granted women suffrage
